...stems from the fact that my Mom introduced me to them at such an early age. I was the kid who couldn't sleep without being read a bedtime story or two. I started reading at around age 3 or 4, and instead of getting my parents to buy me toys, I would ask them for books instead. Every time my Mom brought me to a bookstore she always told me to only get one book but will end up buying me three anyway.
Today, I felt like that kid in the bookstore again. My Mom called me and told me to come to their school because they had a book fair. Me being my usual bookworm self, hurried out and went there. Again, I was told that I can only have one book but she ended up getting me two - both of which she paid for.
It's sad to think that kids these days would prefer computer games over reading books. I wonder, if parents took the time to read their kids a bedtime story like my parents did when I was young, would it make a difference? If they encouraged their kids to read at an early age, would they be hooked on books instead of games?
We could only guess.
