Struck By Lighting

Struck By Lightning is a movie based off of a book by Chris Colfer with the same title. It's about Carson, a senior in high school, who aspires to be the editor of The New Yorker and to win a Nobel Peace Prize among a few other things. He's the editor of the school paper and starts a literary magazine to get into his dream school so he can "escape" his hometown.

It's a good movie with so much insight. It's uncensored which is why I love it. Carson is jaded which in my opinion is why he's so combative and uncompromising to the point that his remarks are mean but witty. Sassy. And I like sassy. Needless to say, Chris Colfer is an amazing human being and that I'm very much looking forward to reading the book.

Here are a few quotes from the movie which I liked:

I wanted to be heard so bad that I never thought about listening. But what I regretted the most was that I lived everyday waiting for my life to begin. The higher your cloud, the farther your rain falls -  and I'd soon learned that when it rains, it pours. (Carson Phillips)

What isn't worth remembering? With good memories come bad memories and I've got a lot of both. At least this way I can fast forward though all of the bad stuff. The counselor once told me that it doesn't matter if you're stuck in the past or in the future you try to forget the past - what matters is what you do in the present. So that's why I try to soak it in as much as possible. (Malerie Baggs)

These were just delusions that occupied my time and thank God they did because life without meaning, without drive, without purpose, without goals or dreams isn't a life worth living. Life comes at you fast. It runs through your body and tries to escape and be expressed in any way possible. It's a lot like lightning. (Carson Phillips)
